The installation was designed and implemented by Murrieta, California-based CBC Technical, Inc. Chris Batchelor, Sales Manager for CBC, comments:

“The church was making a transition from more traditional, classical type music to more contemporary services, and wanted to upgrade their sound system to handle that transition. The staff was looking for something with solid, full-bandwidth response that would help their band sound the best.”

To meet the changing demands of San Luis’ worship band, Larry McNamer of CBC designed a input-to-output EV system, including two QRx 212/75 loudspeakers for mains, four TX1122FM wedges, three CP4000S amplifiers, a DC-One loudspeaker processor, and RE-2 Wireless microphone systems.

“Tour X and DC-One are both cool new additions to the EV product range,” says Batchelor. “They offer a ton of performance for their price point. And because the equipment was so cost-effective, we were able to meet the church’s budget and really exceed their expectations. QRx is always a good choice for any installation like this, because they have a nice warm, full sound to them straight out of the box. Again, they offer incredible value for what they deliver in audio quality. And the Tour X wedges that we included also provide great bang for the buck – they’re tiny little boxes, but they sound amazing!”

The ZX5s look and sound great and have plenty of power handling. We configured them so the center two boxes were paired and the outer two boxes were paired – the gym pretty much has just a mono system, which is great for all the vocal activities they do in the space like speeches, lectures, meetings, and announcements – your normal high school gym activities.
When it comes to providing effective support it’s hard to beat the combination of experience and relationships. Roy Cochran brings both to CBC having served the last 20 years vocationally as a worship pastor in Southern California on staffs of both mega churches and small community churches. Roy continues to serve the local church through the ministry of Worship Foundations International as a pastor and mentor to worship leaders, artists and musicians. As his calling is to strengthen and encourage them spiritually, he can now, with the huge support and backing of CBC Technical, ADDITIONALLY support and serve them by taking care of their technical needs with better pricing and years of experience to draw on. While it’s true that serving as a worship pastor or technical director at a church, you concern yourself mainly with spiritual matters, the truth is that you additionally have the RESPONSIBILITY of the technical advancement, support and maintenance for your church, ON A WEEKLY BASIS! Whether it’s running out of 9 volt batteries, ordering a roll of board tape, replacing that mic that has been going out, or designing the new system for the new facility or build out, we are CONSTANTLY having to deal with the technical needs of our churches. With the relationship with CBC, we can now support you spiritually and technically.

The combination of CBC Technical’s professional experience, size and the ability to provide the BEST pricing one can get as dealers of the industry’s best gear with Roy’s experience and relationships with those serving in houses of worship allows us to serve and support you with incredible effectiveness and efficiency at the right price with the right gear. For churches and other non-profit organizations, CBC Technical provides additional discounts on their already low prices.

Schedule an appointment to have Roy come out to meet you and learn about what is going on at your church. He will be able to bring some demo gear from some of our vendors like SHURE, EV, and AUDIX for you to check out.

We are pleased to once again partner with our local CHP offices to bring to our local High Schools, what we here at CBC

believe is a VERY powerful program. This is why when we are asked each year we strive to assist them in anyway we can.

Life’s lessons are best learned through experience. Unfortunately, when the target audience is teens and the topic is drinking and driving, experience is not the teacher of choice.

The Every 15 Minutes Program offers real-life experience without the real-life risks. This emotionally charged program, entitled Every 15 Minutes, is an event designed to dramatically instill teenagers with the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol. This powerful program will challenge students to think about drinking, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions when lives are involved.

During the first day events the “Grim Reaper” calls students who have been selected from a cross-section of the entire student body out of class. One student is removed from class every 15 minutes. A police officer will immediately enter the classroom to read an obituary which has been written by the “dead” student’s parent(s) – explaining the circumstances of their classmate’s demise and the contributions the student has made to the school and the community. A few minutes later, the student will return to class as the “living dead,” complete with white face make-up, a coroner’s tag, and a black Every 15 Minutes T-shirt. From that point on “victims” will not speak or interact with other students for the remainder of the school day. Simultaneously, uniformed officers will make mock death notifications to the parents of these children at their home, place of employment or business.

After lunch, a simulated traffic collision will be viewable on the school grounds. Rescue workers will treat injured student participants. These students will experience first hand, the sensations of being involved in a tragic, alcohol-related collision. The coroner will handle fatalities on the scene, while the injured students will be extricated by the jaws-of-life manned by Fire-Fighters and Paramedics. Police Officers will investigate, arrest, and book the student “drunk driver”. Student participants will continue their experience by an actual trip to the morgue, the hospital emergency room, and to the police department jail for the purpose of being booked for “drunk driving”.

At the end of the day, those students who participated in the staged accident as well as those who were made-up as the “living dead” will be transported to a local hotel for an overnight student retreat. The retreat will simulate the separation from friends and family. A support staff of counselors and police officers will facilitate the retreat.

During the most powerful program of the retreat, the students will be taken through an audio – visualization of their own death. Then each student will write a letter to his or her parents starting out with . . .

“Dear Mom and Dad, every fifteen minutes someone in the United States dies from an alcohol related traffic collision, and today I died. I never had the chance to tell you…….”

Parents will also be asked to write similar letters to their children. These letters will be shared the following day when students and parents will be reunited at a school assembly.

The students will engage in “Challenge Day” exercises and some fun and games. Impaired simulator goggles will be used to allow students to experience firsthand the potentially fatal consequences of alcohol and drug impairment. The goggles will allow students the opportunity to understand the dangers of impaired driving without taking a drop of alcohol or using drugs of any type. Research shows that those who learn from hands-on experience retain two to four times more than those who learn from just listening, or from listening and seeing.

On the following morning, a mock funeral service will be held at the High School. The assembly will began with a video of normal school day activities including scenes from the first day of the “Grim Reaper” and the staged accident. The assembly will be hosted by an Officer (Project Coordinator), who will guide the audience through the devastating effects of losing a loved one due to a bad choice. Speakers will include students who will read letters to their parents, police officers, and hospital personnel who shared their emotional trauma of dealing with kids killed in accidents. Parents will share their personal reflections of their involvement in this program. We will also have a powerful speaker who actually lost a child to a drunk driver.

The focus of the assembly stresses that the decision to consume alcohol can affect many more people than just the one who drinks. This very emotional and heart-wrenching event will illustrate to students, the potentially dangerous consequences of their use of alcohol, regardless of how casual they believe their use may be.

This event includes the participation of our Police and Fire Departments, High School Staff, Local Hospital, Video Production Crew, Community Officials, District Attorney’s Office and a wide cross-section of the community at-large. It is our goal to utilize the strength, talent and resources of business and industry to prevent drunk driving.

Features

Lightweight portable powered speakers with legendary QSC amplifier power and reliability

1000 watt Class D power modules in all models

Extensive DSP enhances system performance

Attractive and professional appearance

Tour-grade 18 gauge steel grilles

Ergonomic handles with comfortable, non-slip grip

K10 and K12 perform as main PA or stage monitors

The QSC K Series is quite simply The New Standard in lightweight powered loudspeaker systems. For starters, each of the four models features an all new, Pat Quilter designed 1000 watt QSC Class D power module. Next, breaking from the traditional loudspeaker paradigm, every model is fitted with the identical 1.75″ HF device (fullrange models) and woofers of the same high quality for unparalleled performance, regardless of speaker size.

Extensive DSP processing is employed throughout, providing levels of sonic clarity and total output that defy the system’s size and weight.

Premium-grade materials, advanced construction processes and multiple mounting and suspension options allow for a wide range of live and installed applications.

Combo XLR and 1/4″ TRS inputs accept both Mic and Line Level input while a set of RCA phono inputs (except KSub) allow additional connectivity to portable MP3 players, CD players and line-level mixers. Up to three audio sources can be mixed internally and summed to a balanced output for “daisy-chaining” of multiple units. Separate direct outputs are also provided on each channel for additional output flexibility.

On-board switches provide preset EQ settings. The HF setting (fullrange models) can be set to VOCAL BOOST for additional presence in the critical mid-frequency area or FLAT for accurate reproduction of the incoming signal. The LF switch can be set to NORM, DEEP™ for additional bass extension, or EXT SUB (fullrange models) for use with an external subwoofer. The rear panel LED switch can be set to POWER, illuminating the front-mounted LED when the unit is powered on, OFF for applications where it is not desirable to illuminate the front LED, or LIMIT which indicates to the system operator that the clip limiter circuit has been engaged during operation.

Fullrange models are housed in rugged ABS enclosures with a professional appearance that is at home in any application. ABS is a far more robust material than conventional speaker plastics and offers an additional measure of sonic clarity due to its internal rigidity. Ergonomic aluminum handles and a highly protective steel grille complete the package for ease of transport and long term durability.

The K Series fullrange models feature a unique Tilt-Direct™ pole cup mounting system. A simple turn of the dial engages a 7.5 degree downward tilt of the speaker allowing acoustic energy to be kept on the audience and off reflective surfaces for applications where maximum coverage from a high-positioned speaker is desired. Integrated M10 suspension points allow for suspended applications with a K SERIES M10 KIT (sold separately) or Yoke bracket (sold separately).

The KSub is a dual-12″ bandpass design, constructed of premium birch and includes high-quality, low-noise casters. The subwoofer features a threaded pole receptacle for a positive, wobble free connection to a threaded speaker pole (included).

Remote gain control capability is offered via a potentiometer (not included) connected to the on-board Euroblock connector. In an installed application, multiple K Series speakers can be “daisy-chained” for total gain control from a single remote pot. Auto-standby mode is engaged after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Extensive DSP

DMT™ (Directivity Matched Transition) provides for matched LF and HF coverage across the entire listening area, eliminating unnatural “dead” or “hot” frequency zones.

Intrinsic Correction™, first featured in our high-end line-array products maps 65-75 spacially-averaged measurements to IIR and FIR filters that actively adjust time, frequency and amplitude response to a maximally flat bandpass target. The result is a speaker that behaves equally well across the entire sound field.

DEEP™ and excursion limiting allow for extended low-frequency response by actively managing low-frequency transients without degradation of the underlying signal or adjacent frequencies.

GuardRail™ protection, first introduced on our GX Series amplifiers protects both the amplifier module and your performance from unnatural and destructive clipping.
